Booth Bolster

Derwent Brass are delighted to announce the appointment of James Booth on Cornet. James joins the backrow team alongside the recently appointed Emily Bramble.

James has a wealth of experience, most recently with the Sheffield University Brass Band which he not only founded, but then went on to play Principal Cornet for 3 years. He also played lead trumpet in the university’s big band and other ensembles including the Kirklees Symphony Orchestra.

“As part of the band’s continual improvement plan we have been keen to bolster the backrow cornet section and with the recent appointment of Emily Bramble and now James Booth we have made some significant progress. James has only recently moved to the area, but I was immediately impressed with both his tone and sight reading capabilities and no doubt his previous Salvation Army playing experience will have benefited this. I wish them both a long and enjoyable future with the band.” (Keith Leonard, Musical Director).

James joins the band with immediate effect ahead of their inaugural performance at the Rochdale Brass Festival in October.
